2024 saw Talbalba achieve another successful on property sale with 63 bulls averaging $14,666 to top at $34,000 with a 95% clearance.
Solid commercial support was the cornerstone of the sale with all bulls selling to repeat and new commercial clients. Lot 16, Talbalba Laptop T050 (P) was the most popular bull going under the hammer at $34,000 to Angus, Bill and Marce Moore from Burren Junction, NSW. Laptop was by homebred sire Talbalba Techno Ro36, with a weight of 878kg at 2 years of age off pasture and forage oats. He displayed balanced EBV’s with high calving ease in a moderate thick frame with depth and softness. Nowley Pastoral co also bought Lot 53, a low birth weight Talbalba Hoffman son for $17,000.
Long term clients Daryl and Ian Bjorkstein from St George and Yeoval respectively bought 3 top bulls with Daryl and Antoinette taking home Lot 1, a Techno son for $24,000 and Lot 9 a Days Kingswood son for $20,000. Ian bought Lot 2, a Days Kingswood son for $30,000 and the brothers bought another Days Kingswood son, Lot 28 in partnership for $22,000.
The Bowhay family also long term clients purchased from the front end of the catalogue as usual taking home Lot 4, a Techno son for $16,000 , Lot 10 a Days Kinswood son for $17,000, Lot 11 a Kingswood son for $24,000, Lot 36 for $22,000, Lot 39 for $16,000 and Lot 45 for $16,000.
Jason Kidd, Greenhills grazing, Meandarra bought 4 bulls topping at $32,000 for Lot 3 by Koanui Techno, the heaviest bull in the sale at 954kg off oats. Other purchases included Lot 19 at $24,000, Lot 33, $6000 and Lot 38 at $15,000. New local buyers, Kindon station, bought 6 bulls to average $15,833. The Hauff family from Blackall 4 bulls to ave $11,500. Cam Flower, Roma took home 4 bulls at $15,000 and $16,000. Ian Winks 3 bulls to ave $12,000. Volume buyer David York 8 bulls to average $9125.
